State of Punjab v. CBI
Two women in connivance with police officers blackmailed multiple influential people by threatening to frame them in sexual abuse cases if they refused to pay.
Krishnamurthy alias Tailor Krishnan v. PP Madras
The Assistant Commissioner knew that a place was running as a brothel with 3 girls. He sent his officer to the brothel as a customer with a marked rupee note. He gave this marked note to a girl who works in the brothel and entered the room. After that the police raided the brothel. The rupee note was recovered from the owner or Krishnamurthy.
The Court ruled that the girls were offered for the purpose of prostitution. The house was used for such purposes, undoubtedly for the gain of the appellant who pocketed the money.
Ratio:
Whether prostitution should go on for a long time to classify as brothel? Court ruled that even one time with surrounding circumstances is enough to conclude that a place is a brother under the act.
Guria Swayam Sevi Sansthan v. Satyabhama
Regarding Bail. The person was accused of human trafficking. The girls were drugged and subjected to torture and harassment.
HC granted bail mechanically. SC overturned the decision of HC and rejected his bail plea. HC didn’t consider the seriousness of the crime.
