- didn’t directly affect them but hours reduced due to economic slowdown
- women and children couldn’t work before or after 6am-6pm

- women restricted to 10 1/2 hour days so men also reduced as factories struggled to run without them

extending to industries
A
- by 1864 acts extended to more industries
e.g. fustian cutting, bleaching and dye works and match making - 1867 to all establishments with 50 or more workers

- new lanark
- sells to quaker partners in 1824 and it’s ran the way he would for 50 years
- charles and henry walker
- improved living conditions and working conditions
- also titus salt and saltaire
- but inky a few examples that didn’t catch on
