impressions / materials and management Flashcards
start block temp befeore you make an impressino?
YES
when using cord should you see it?
YES
where do you want the cord
adjacent to the finish line
dry cord?
never place a dry cord – can tear the tissue
two types of cords we have that are treated
- hemodent
- visto stat clear
hemodent has like half alumnium chloride
we do not use epi treated cord in school
size differences in cords?
Yes
- zeros (like single or doubel)
1,2, and 3
typically using 0 and 1
usually choose smallest one that is big enough (because trying to protect the tissue)
if too small - wont get enough tissue retraction
other way to obtain adequate tissue retraction
soft tissue laser
electro-surgery
T/F all these techniques are acceptable
true – if done well and achieve the goal of tissue retraction
use of adhesive?
YES– like on a stock trey when using polyether material
have to use the adhesive that matches with the impression material
describe application of material around the finish line
APPLYING IT TWICE AROUND FULLY
- limits air bubbles and covers whole tooth
then you use the trey with material
when the impression is setting where are you?
HOLDING IT IN THE PATIENT MOUTH
what you need ot see when you remove the impression from patients mouth
- Margin 360 degrees around tooth
- Some uncut tooth structure 360 degrees around
- No bubbles on the finish line
- No gross voids
- Neighboring teeth have to be there
- No streaks
- No show throughs from trey onto finish line
type of material that gets put around tooth adn type that gets put into the trey
light bodied – twice around the tooth
medium / heavy bodied in the trey
PVS hydrophobic? implication
yes – so when go to pour it up could get bubbles so we put a surface treamtent on it
T/F polyether can break down against stone
true
