First Amendment
A
- Establishment Clause & Free Excercise Clause!
- Freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly, and petition.
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

A
- The right to keep and bear arms.

Third Amendment
A
- Citizens do not have to house soldiers.

Fourth Amendment
A
- The government cannot search your house or seize your belongings without probable cause.

Fifth Amendment
A
- Before being charged with a crime, a grand jury must agree there is enough evidence to send them to trial.
- They shall not be deprived of their life, liberty, or property without the due process of law.
- They shall not be compelled to be a self-witness and cannot be subjected to double jeopardy.
- The government must justly compensate for taken private land.

Sixth Amendment
A
- The right to a speedy and public trial.
- The right to be told what they are being charged with; ask their accuser questions; call witnesses to testify for them; and get a lawyer.

A
- The right to a trial by jury in civil cases.

A
- No excessive bail, fines, or cruel and unusual punishment.

A
- There are other rights besides the ones listed in the Bill of Rights and the federal government cannot violate those rights.

A
- Any rights not given to the federal government are given to the states and people.

Fourteenth Amendment (Section 1)

- Gives birthright citizenship.
- No State abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States.
- Nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.
- Nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

A
- Prohibits the denial of the right to vote based on race, color or previous condition of servitude.

- Establishes the direct election of United States senators by popular vote.

- Prohibits the revocation of voting rights based upon failure to pay taxes.
- Removed poll taxes.

- Lowers the voting age to 18 years.
