Implant Overdenture Flashcards
1
Q
Indications for Splinted-Bar Removable prosthesis
A
Malposed implants
In maxilla - there is not evidence to suggest an advantage in splinting onther than implants in the mandible
2
Q
Advantages of Splinted-bar removable implant prosthesis
A
- Allows significant correction of non-parallel implants
- Allows relocation of the attachment system w/in the confines of the denture base
- Attachments can be cast, soldered, or welded on to the bar to provide path of insertion
- better distribution of forces, resists rotational torque
3
Q
Disadvantages of splinted-bar removable implant prosthesis
A
- Added space required inside the denture
- Hygiene can be difficult
- Additional cost
- Passive fit is a necessity
4
Q
What type of implant prosthesis requires fewer implants?
A
Removable implant prosthesis
5
Q
How much vertical height is required for fixed implant prosthesis vs removable implant prosthesis?
A
Fixed = 15mm vert
6
Q
Advantages of non-splinted removable implant prosthesis
A
- Decreased cost
- Decreased space requirement
- Improved access for hygiene
7
Q
Mandibular overdenture may be restored with..?
A
- 2 anterior implants independent of each other - non splinted
- Splinted implants, no cantilever
- Implants splinted with cantilevered bar
8
Q
Locator attachment parts (male) colors
A
Blue - 1.5lbs
Pink - 3lbs
White - 5lbs
