Impending Changes in OT Flashcards
Walsh & Bartunek 2011
Organizational Death/founding
Looks at the affective, cognitive, relational connections of former organizational members and what leads them to start new firms in the wake of their old firm’s collapse
Compare and Contrast Organizational Climate with Organizational Culture
Climate: the shared perceptions of and the meaning attached to the policies, practices, and procedures employees experience and the behaviors they observe getting rewarded and that are supported and expected (Schneider et al. 2013)
Culture: the shared basic assumptions, values, and beliefs that characterize a setting and are taught to newcomers as the proper way to think and feel, communicated by myths and stories people tell about how the organization came to be the way it is as it solved problems associated with external adaptation and internal integration.
New directions for climate research
Links between foundation climates (i.e., justice, diversity, ethics, etc.) and strategic climates directly related to strategic outcomes
Interactions between multiple focused climates (i.e., diversity X service) to predict relevant organizational outcomes (i.e., customer satisfaction) - McKay et al. 2011
New directions for social network research
Bring agency back into the analysis…so its not just about the position one occupies, but the type of person who occupies it.
A key variable: self-monitoring has been shown to be correlated with individuals who are network brokers
