Q

How far were black Americans impacted by WW2?

A

Despite the New Deal providing more jobs for black Americans, they were given the worst jobs and were the ‘last to be hired and the first to be fired’. Many of those in Northern states also petitioned to fire all black employees as they felt as though they took all the jobs (xenophobia). However, after 3 years of serving the country the Tuskegee Airmen’s work had increase positive public attitudes towards black Americans.

A

The Zoot Suit Riots occurred on the 3rd of June 1943.
