habeas corpus - the right to a fair trial

1812 breaking of machines became a capital offence
- 17 luddites hanged 1813
When did luddism end?
lasted until end of Fr wars
- new vein of political radicalism emerged after the war (march of the Blanketeers in 1817)
What did parliament abolish in 1807?
1807 parliament abolished the slave trade & the hope was that the Br Navy would enforce the ban
