What information did you need that you weren’t able to find or locate?
A
- Information on cultural monuments being forcibly removed (like during the BLM protests)
- It was hard to find info on monuments not made during the Civil War era
It was honestly really hard to find sources that did not discuss civil war-era monuments, but I was able to find some. I would say that the information that I wasn’t able to find that I really wanted to was information on cultural monuments being forcibly removed. I know that, during the BLM protests about five years ago, a lot of statues that perpetuated racist or sexist perspectives were destroyed or damaged. I wasn’t able to find any sources directly discussing that topic, but that may be because it was a fairly recent event.

What are the implications of your findings to your community?
A
- More aware of the effects that monuments have on us
- My findings could cause the community to research the war memorial in West Grove more
- HS admin might research the figures included in the Hall of Fame more
