NADPH oxidase complex uses O2 to make ROS
- if CGD can’t use O2 but can use bacterial H2O2

**Catalase + species neutralize their own H2O2 so our phagocytes can’t make ROS to kill them
(think Staph aureus, Pseudomonas, Aspergillus, Candida, Klebsiella, Serratia)
