What does positive predictive value mean?
A
The percentage of people who had a positive test result who turn out to have the disease.

A
True positive values.

What is the impact of indiscriminate testing on the patient?
A
May lead to FP’s, which add stress, anxiety and risk to the patient.
- Leads to unnecessary tests and inappropriate treatment.
- Causes a delay in obtaining the correct diagnosis.
Also delays results for other patients and increases cost for hospital and patient.
