Buddhists don’t say reincarnation, they say rebirth. Explain what this is.
The energy created by the major actions in the previous life of a person sets another life in motion, The process of nirth, death and rebirth is called samsara.
Why do Christians believe in life after death?
Because of the resurrection of jesus. For many, this is a spiritual resurrection, for others, it is a new, immortal, physical body that is resurrected.
The form of the next life in buddhism depends on what?
Karma (the law of cause and effect- good or bad actions will create good or bad outcomes in the future).
What does the buddhist term ‘anatta’ mean?
no self or soul. Buddhists do not believe people have souls.
What is the aim for a Buddhist and why is it important?
Suffering is unavoidable in life so their aim to is reach nirvana, a state of enlightenment, and stop being reborn and instead reach a state beyond suffering and impermanence (constant chane).
What proof of life after death do some people say they have?
Experiences- seeing ghosts. Some people claim to be able to communicate with the dead. This is called channelling.
What so atheists say about life after death?
There is a lack of scientific proof behind it. No body likes the thought of someone to stop existing, so it is simply wishful thinking or comfort by saying that they are still around.
What did Richard Dawkins think about souls living on?
He thinks belief in the soul is the result of people refusing to accept there is no purpose in life.

what is materialism?
The belief that our minds are inseparable from our bodies and materialists reject the idea of the survival of a soul one the physical body is dead.
What is Dualism?
where people believe that there are two distinct parts to a person- the body and the mind. At death the two separate: the body decays but the soul move on to the afterlife.
