Explain why the Scottish parliament is ineffective with regards to the Rwanda Asylum Plan.
— A controversial plan that Westminster has devised is the Rwanda plan
— Aims to send asylum seekers to Rwanda
— It is deeply unpopular amongst Scots
— The **UK Supreme Court5* has also ruled that Rwanda is an unsafe country for relocation
— Once again, the Scottish parliament has failed to help in this matter because it’s reserved with Westminster
— Even though this plan goes against the wishes of the people, they can’t do anything, further emphasising its ineffectiveness.
Explain how the Scottish parliament is ineffective with regards to Palestinian Asylum Seekers.
— Former first minister, Humza Yousaf, called on Westminster to allow Palestinians to seek asylum in Scotland in light of the Gaza massacre
— Westminster rejected their request because it’s a reserved power
— Shows how the Scottish parliament isn’t a major player outside of their own confines, which doesn’t give the citizens much empowerment.
— Shows how their opinions don’t matter with regards to what is going on in the world, further emphasising it’s ineffectiveness and powerlessness.
