They mixed races together to create a new person who is an American.
What is an American?
An American is somebody who came from somewhere else to become someone else.
What is the American Dream?
The American Dream was hope that if a person worked hard then even the poorest person could become richer and have a much better standard of living than if they stayed in their own country.
What is Immigration
A person leaves another country and immigrates to another.

Who were W.A.S.P.’s?
Until 1890 most immigrants were WASP White Anglo-Saxon Protestants from wealthier countries of Europe such as Britain Germany and Sweden. After 1890 more immigrants started arriving to Eastern Europe and Asia.
Why stop Immigration?
Prejudice: after 1880, many immigrants were poor Catholics and Jews from eastern Europe. This worried the WASPs.
Red scare: Communism terrified America a number of bombs were planted in 1919-1921, one by an immigrant Italian. Immigrants were suspected of being communists
Trade Unions: opposed immigration because they feared that immigrants would work for lower wages and take their jobs
