Immediate Actions Flashcards
ENG FIRE CAPTION
Immediate Actions
Check for confirmatory signs of fire; smoke flames, engine instruments.
ENGINE/CABIN FIRE ON GROUND
Immediate Actions
Throttle - fully close Fuel shut-off - close FUEL PUMP - OFF Rotor brake lock - GROUND Rotor brake - On below 170Nr CRANK - ON for 10 seconds EXT PWR BATT - OFF Vacate aircraft
CABIN FIRE IN FLIGHT
Flames or smoke in the cabin
Immediate Actions
Heater and Demist - OFF
Windows - Open
MASTER SW - ON
Note: the GPS will continue to operate on its internal battery, it should be turned off to assist fault diagnosis
ENGINE FAILURE IN THE HOVER
Yaw and drift to the right,
Nr, Ng and Tq decrease, horn audio,
GEN and ENG OIL P captions on CWP
Immediate Actions
Stop both yaw and drift
Cushion touchdown
Complete shutdown
ENGINE FAILURE/RUN DOWN/POWER LOSS IN FORWARD FLIGHT
Nr, Ng and Tq decrease, audio horn
Possible yaw to right, GEN and ENG OIL P captions on CWP
Immediate Actions
Lower collective to recover Nr, entering autorotation if necessary
Check throttle in FLIGHT position, if not, reset
Check Ng, continue with FRCs
ENGINE RUN UP
Nr, Ng and Tq increase above normal
Immediate Actions
Raise collective lever to contain Nr
Partially close throttle to set 370Nr
Lower level to restore normal Nr
Repeat this process to set power to fly at 65kts
LOW ENGINE OIL PRESSURE
A failure may be indicated by one or more of the following indications:
Low indication on Engine Oil pressure gauge
ENG OIL P caption (test CWP)
Low indicated Tq
Immediate Actions
3 Indications - Enter autorotation and carry out an engine off landing
BATT TEMP CAPTION
Immediate Actions
EXT PWR BATT - OFF
Land as soon as possible
Complete shutdown using fuel shut-off lever
Evacuate aircraft (possible thermal runaway)
Note: attempting to shut down using the start slider will result in the loss of all electrical services which cannot be recovered
MGB INPUT DRIVE FAILURE
Yaw to the right
Reduction in Nr; warning horn
Transient increase in Ng and T4 and remain above idle figures
Tq dropping to zero
Immediate Actions
Enter Autorotation
Close throttle to idle to maintain drive to tail rotor
Carry out an engine off landing
TAIL ROTOR DRIVE FAILURE - IN FORWARD FLIGHT
Yaw to the left, severe at low IAS
Possible vibration
Immediate Actions
Reduce power sufficiently to prevent further yaw
Establish a power/IAS combination for controlled flight
HOVER - UNCOMMANDED RIGHT TURN
Immediate Actions
Immediate Actions
Oppose turn with left pedal
Close throttle slowly to reduce Nr (min 320Nr)
Maintain hover until turn stops
Land, maintaining the Nr at the value when the turn stopped
HOVER - UNCOMMANDED LEFT TURN
Immediate Actions
Oppose turn with right pedal
Close throttle commensurate with turn rate
Cushion landing
LOW HYDRAULIC PRESSURE
HYD caption on CWP
Horn audio
Stiffening of controls (yaw pedals initially)
Immediate Actions: Hover
Land, if area suitable
If not, fly away, establish positive airspeed and continue as per Immediate Actions: In Flight
LOW HYDRAULIC PRESSURE
HYD caption on CWP
Horn audio
Stiffening of controls (yaw pedals initially)
Immediate Actions: In Flight
IAS - Adjust to 60kts
HYD TEST switch - check OFF
HYD isolate switch - OFF
HYDRAULIC SLIDER VALVE SEIZURE
Sudden increase in control force, with possible pitch, roll or yaw
Immediate Actions
IAS - If possible, adjust to 60kts
HYD isolate switch - OFF
Note: See LOW HYDRAULIC PRESSURE subsequent actions & considerations
