Imm Flashcards
Autoimmune Diseases
- Rheumatoid Arthritis
- Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
- Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis
Immunodeficiency Diseases
- AIDS
- Immunosupression due to cancer or organ transplant meds
Hypersensitivity
Immune responses that are exaggerated or inappropriate for protective fxn
Ig-E Mediated Hypersensitivity
Ig-E Sensitized mast cells degranulate when re-exposed to an antigen
- systemic anaphylaxis
- Hay Fever
- Asthma, Hives, Food allergies, Eczema
Antibody-Mediates Cytotoxic Hypersensitivity
Antibodies directed against antigens on own individuals cells that cause lysis or destruction by NKC.
- Transfusion Rxn
- Drug-induced hemolytic anemia
- Hemolytic Disease of the Newborn
Immune Complex-Mediated Hypersensitivity
Antigen-antibody complexes deposit on the cell membrane and activate complement and ensuing inflammatory response.
- Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
- Rheumatoid Arthritis
- Post-Streptococcal Glomerulonephritis
Cell-Mediated Hypersensitivity
Antigen-sensitized T-cells release cytokines after being re-exposed to the antigen. Cytokines attract macrophages which release other chemical mediators & include inflammatory rxn.
- Poison Ive rxn
- Graft rejection
- TB lesions
