Variety
• The visual weight of objects, texture, colors, and space is evenly distributed on the screen.
• When visiting a website, check if one side holds the same amount of weight on the other.
• The colors also have similar visual weight.
Balance
• An area in the design that may appear different in size, texture, shape or color to attract the viewer’s attention.
Emphasis
•Visual elements guide the viewer’s eyes around the screen.
Movement
• Repeating visual elements on an image or layout to create unity in the layout.
• Rhythm is achieved when visual elements create a sense of organized movement.
Pattern, Repetition, Rhythm
• Visual elements create a sense of unity when they relate well with one another.
Proportion
• This uses several design elements to draw viewer’s attention.
Variety
• The most basic of all photography rules, dividing your shot into nine equal sections by a set of vertical and horizontal lines.
• With the imaginary frame in place, you should place the most important element in your shot on one of the lines or where the lines meet.
Rule of thirds
• Our eyes are unconsciously drawn along lines in images so by thinking about how, where and why you place lines in your images will change the way your audience view it.
Leading lines
They can isolate your subject, drawing the eye directly
to it, they can hide unwanted items behind it, give an
image depth and help create context.
• Your frame can be man-made (bridges, arches and
fences), natural (tree branches, tree trunks) or even human (arms clasped around a face).
Framing
• Filling your frame with an object or subject that repeats, gives the shot more impact, exaggerating the size/number of the objects you’re photographing.
• Shots, where there’s symmetry in them.
Balance
• Placing the most dominant eye of the subject in the central view of the photo helps the shot to show something behind it.
Center dominant eye
• ——— are simply repeated shapes, colors or objects, ordered in either regular or irregular formations.
• As a photographer, using pattern is key to good composition and, when used effectively, can transform an otherwise bland image into something dramatic and eye catching.
Patterns
• ——— is a composition that helps the subject to pop up.
• It is something about composing a different color/characteristic of the subject.
