Imagery
a type of firgurative language that appeals to senses
inversion
to rearrange the word order to create new rhymes or to emphasize a particular word
Archaic language
many words that look familiar to us, for example “heave”, had very different meanings
we would say my sad son goes away from home (heavy) souroful
Omission
Shakespear might omit a whole word or a part of a word to create rhymed
Petrarchan love
(1) unrequieted one side
(2) Rosaline>Romeo
(3) person in love is sad because other person doesn’t like them
Prose
everyday language
'’to twinkle in their spheres till they return.”
Romeo
he says this while talking about Romeo
this is important because it show how he feels about her.
“As daylight doth a lamp, her eye in heaven would through the airy region stream so bright.”
Romeo
he is talking about how she looks.
this is important because it shows how he feels about her appearence
“the birds would sing and think it were not night.”
he is saying the setting felt that way when he was with her and in that area
O, that i were a glove upon that hand, that I might touch that cheek”
he is saying he would want to place his hand on her face
“O, speak again, bright angel, for thou art as glorious to this night
Romeo
he says this because he wants to tell her how much he likes her

he talks about how he sees the different pathways in a way that only he can with his will

He talks about how the flowers are weak compared to what was there before
This is very important because it tells us how he feels about the new setting

Juliet says that he can be that man if he shows effort

Juliet is saying that she can’t even hear or take in what she has just said.
