what is the purpose of imagery?
makes a piece of graphic design interesting and helps understand the product/service
what are the 4 types of imagery?
photographic
illustration

what is a raster image?
made up of tiny squares that create one larger image, if you zoom in far enough you will see square forms which are the pixels
what are the advantages of a raster image?
- permits greater colour editing
- shows finer light and shading than vectors
What are the disadvantages of raster?
- you loose image quality when resized
What’s a vector image?
the graphics are more mathematical than pixel images, as you zoom in you won’t see pixel squares because the lines and shaped will always readjust to keep their original shape
advantages of vector images?
- good for projects that require scalable graphics since they won’t loose quality
disadvantages of vector images?
- highly detailed photos may be more suited to pixel format where individual pixels can be edited
What is a file format?
describes different methods of digitally encoding, storing and transferring data, common file formats include PDF and JPEG
