Image Contrast Flashcards

1
Q

The CHEST has LOW or HIGH inherent radiographic contrast?

A

HIGH
The bones of the thorax are very dense, with medium density soft tissue structures (hear and mediastinum) and low density (air filled lungs)

Q

The ABDOMEN has LOW or HIGH inherent radiographic contrast?

A

LOW
Kidneys, spleen, muscle, fat and bowel are all similar density.
There is a small amount of bone (spine/pelvis) and Bowel gas too

16
Q

how do i change the greyscale on my image

A

You don’t change the greyscale - the greyscale is the amount of options of grey you have in which to display the image (set by computer hardware and image attributes)

17
Q

how do I use the greyscale optimally to display my image

A

Have the brightest items you wish to look at set as nearly white, and the darkest items you wish to view as nearly black (increase the contrast of the image)
