Lykian ruler; wanted to step up to his name and go headfirst into battle; encountered Diomedes on the battlefield, but they make a truce because their grandfathers knew one another and they switched armor (as a peace sign)

Lykian ruler; son of Zeus; killed by Patroklos; scolds Hektor for leaving the fighting up to the Trojan allies
Achilles
Greek hero; felt dishonored by Agamemnon, so he refused to fight in the war; rejoined the war once Patroklos was killed; king of the Myrmidons; killed Hektor

lazy (made the Greeks do all the work, yet took the prizes); took Briseis from Achilles after returning Chryseis to her father; brother of Menelaus and husband of Klytaimestra

belonged to Achilles, but taken by Agamemnon

daughter of Chryses; prize to Agamemnon until she was returned to her father

bird interpreter;after assured that Achilles will protect him, he declares that Agamemnon must return Chryseis to her father in order for the plague to stop; he also prophesies that the Greeks will win in the 10th year of war

on the Trojan side; mother of Aineias; wounded by Diomedes when trying to rescue Aineias; whisks Paris away to his bedchamber as he is almost killed by Menelaus; speaks with Helen when telling her to meet Paris in the bedchamber

Greek side; disguises herself as the brother of Hektor when he is about to battle Achilles; restrains Achilles from killing Agamemnon; persuades Pandaros to break the truce

built the Trojan Wall; on the Greek side; secretly helps the Greeks while Zeus is asleep
Patroklos
close friend of Achilles; puts on the armor of Achilles to go into battle; aristeia on the battlefield; attempts to scale the walls of Troy; killed by Hektor
Thetis
mother of Achilles; asks Zeus to favor the Trojans so that Achilles will be needed by the Greeks; asks Hephaistos to make Achilles armor when he reenters the war
Odysseus
powerful Greek warrior knoown for his cleverness and trickery; scolds Thersites for being shameful; spies on the Trojans alongside Diomedes
Zeus
king of the gods; makes the gods stay out of the war (which he then breaks); deceived by his wife, Hera; on the Trojan side; father of Sarpedon, but allows him to die; does not interfere with fate
Hephaistos
makes the armor for Achilles when he reenters the war; on the Greek side; sent fire down and burnt the shores of Xanthos
Priam
king of Troy; father of Hektor, Paris, and many other sons; husband of Hekabe; tells Helen who the prominent Greeks are when she asks; favors Hektor, not Paris
Thersites
ugly and disliked Greek; said that Agamemnon was lazy and took all the prizes when he didnt do any fighting, he took Briseis from Achilles, who actually fought hard; scolded and hit by Odysseus for being shameful
Nestor
elderly Greek known for his wisdom; often boosts the Greek morale through long speeches; from Pylos
