How is jurisdiction over the plaintiff acquired?
A
Jurisdiction over the plaintiff is acquired by filing of
the complaint or petition.

A
Acquired by the
(1) voluntary appearance or submission by the
defendant or respondent to the court or
(2) by coercive process issued by the court to him,
generally by the service of summons [de Joya v.
Marquez (2006), citing Regalado
