What is the IA for encountering an IED?
5 C’s
- Confirm
- Clear
- Check
- Cordon
- Control
How do you figure out your mvmt formations?
Through a thorough METT-TC analysis and route reconnaissance. CC must balance the need for passive security with ability to command and control.
What are the two basic formations for the column?
Open Column and Close Column
What is the dispersion and adv/disadvantages of open column?
-Distance between vehicles is approximately 100m-200m.
-ADV
-Provide protection again IDF, IED, or air
attack
-Less chance to be caught in killzone
-more stopping distance, more maneuver
room
-DIS
-Larger footprint
-more difficult C2
-Intervals harder to maintain
-harder to maintain visual contact
-IA drills harder to execute
-lack of mutual support
What is the dispersion and adv/disadvantages of close column?
Distance is approximately 50m-100m -ADV -smaller footprint -greater control -more mutual support/mass fires -more difficult for civilian traffic to enter convoy -DIS -more vulnerable to IDF and IED's -more vehicles caught in kill zone -less stopping and maneuverability -exhausting for drivers to maintain interval
