What is an idiom?
A group of words established by usage as having a meaning not deducible from those of the individual words
Easy as pie/ The test questions were easy as pie.
Simple
Antsy/ I was getting very antsy waiting for class to end.
Restless
Beat around the bush/ He beat around when I asked him where he was going.
To avoid an issue or question
The bottom line/ The bottom line was that the family could not afford a new car.
The most important peace of information.
Far-fetched/ The story he told us sounded a little far-fetched.
Untrue/ not believable
Go with the flow/ We decided to just go with the flow.
One step at a time
Jump the gun / Jim jumped the gun on buying a new TV.
To act hastily
Keep an eye on/ Our neighbor kept an eye on our house while we were away.
To watch out for
Leave well enough alone/ Even though her children were late for dinner, Mary decided to leave well enough alone.
To take no action
Live and let live/ Even though I was against the move I decided to live and let live.
To let others live as they choose
Not on your life/ When I asked my friend if she was going to move back home she said not on your life.

Once in a while/ Every one in a while we go out to eat.
