Reality Tv and Traditional ideas on Narrative (Bronwen)
Reality tv uses a narrative structure to give shape to events. Reality tv often uses a fairytale structure with participants being magically transformed with narrative climaxes.
How can you apply Propp to reality tv? (1928)
Archetypal characters in TV talent show genres, hero wanting the public vote each weak, audience are the helpers, the villain is the strict judge, continuous formats for entertainment purposes. Also competiton shows the host is the narrator, with a competition, challenge and reward.
