A
Argue we can talk of mental states to talk of brain states. We can establish mental states in brain states through empirical research, not language

A
Pointing out that everything that has a brain state has a particular mental state only shows correlation, not identity.

Outline type identity theory
A
Mental ‘types’ of things are physical ‘types’ of things - states and events.
Mental ‘things’ turn out to be the same type of ‘thing’ as physical ‘things’
