What is the identity theory?
A
Mental states are identical with brain stars. Mind is identical to the brain.

What is the distinction between type and token identity?
A
Token = pain associated with particular brain state. Type = metal kinds are themselves physical kinds.
Cf. ‘rose is a rose is a rose’. 7 token words, 3 type words (noun, article, verb).
