Q

Assessing Frequency

A

Highly correlated w/ overall severity of stuttering

  • SNAPSHOTof tx progress
  • Measured as % syllables stuttered (%SS)
  • syllables more easily counted, can capture if it occurs on more than 1 syllable

Q

Stutter-Like vs. Normal Disfluencies

A

Stutter-like: part-word and single syllable whole-word repetitions, tense pauses, dysrhythmic phonations
Normal: multisyllable word repetitions, phrase repetitions, interjections, revisions
RULES:
-If child has >50% stutter-like disfluencies, more likely to be stuttering
-If >3 stutter-link disfluencies per 100 words, likely stutter
