Corn spurry
Leaves: needle like leaves, rounded on top, grooved lengthwise on bottom, whorls of 6-30 at nodes.
Stems/branches: slender, branched at base, bright green, sparsely hairy, slightly sticky.
Flowers: 5 white petals, 5 green sepals.
Seeds: small, oval seed pods, numerous small, black, flat, seeds. With a narrow light coloured wing.
Mouse-eared chickweed
Leaves: stalkless, hairy, opposite on nodes.
Stems/branches: dark green, very hairy, slightly sticky, with swollen nodes.
Flowers: 5, white, deeply divided petals, with hairy sepals.
Seeds: tiny, red/brown, round seeds.
Lamb’s quarters
Leaves: triangular with toothed margins, or entire. Gray-green, with mealy particles.
Stems/branches: branched, ridged green or purple striped stems (20-200cm)
Flowers: small, greenish can at leaf a island stem tips.
Seeds: each flower=1 flattens black seed, covered by thin white papery pericarp.
Hedge bindweed
Leaves:arrow-shaped, largish, with two sharp or rounded lobes at base
Stems/branches: slender, curl around other plants.
Flowers: small pinkish white flowers, single or small groups on stalks.
Seeds: large, round, rough with tiny black bumps.
Bracken fern
Leaves: large, broad, triangular , compound.

Stork’s bill
Leaves: basal rosette or pinnately divided leaves.
Stems/branches: long flowering stalks from leaf axils.
Flowers: pink/ purple 5-petaled flowers in clusters of 2-12. With long style.
Seeds: style splits into 5, with spiralled tail, and club shaped seeds in hairy hull at bases of segments.
St. John’s wort
Leaves: opposite, green and perforated.
Stems/branches: erect, rust coloured basal stems. Many branched, woody. Branches are green, without hair, ridged.
Flowers: small yellow 5-petaled flowers with black dots around margins. With conspicuous stamens.
Seeds: seed pods rusty brown with 3 styles, break into 3 sections with numerous dark brown, pitted seeds.
Common mallow
Leaves: alternate, roundish shallowly toothed, heart shaped bases. Long stalks.
Stems/branches: hairy, multi branched stems. Prostrate to semi-erect.
Flowers: white-lilac 5 petaled flowers. Single-small groups in leaf axils.
Seeds: each flower=12-15 nutlets in a disc, each butler contains single dark brown seed.
Fireweed
Leaves: scattered leaves. Lanceolate, simple, shallowly toothed or entire. Upper are alternate, lower may be opposite.
Stems/branches: erect stems, reddish, glabrous, woody
Flowers:boy role 4 petaled flowers in terminal racemes.
Seeds:many seeded capsules, each side with fine white hairs at apex.
Broad-leafed plantain
Leaves: oval, dull green in basal rosette, smooth it roughly hairy, prominently ribbed.
Stems/branches: erect, leafless.
Flowers: small greenish flowers at tips of stalks, in spikes.
Seeds: brown, egg shaped seed pods with small dark brown seeds (5-16)

Leaves: long narrow leaves. With prominent parallel veins.

Flowers: compact oval spikes of flowers at ends of stems. Halo of anthers during flowering.

Leaves: alternate, long stalked, dull green, sparsely hairy. Underside with prominent white veins.
Stems/branches: erect, (50-90cm) simple or branched. Green-reddish, red at roots.
Flowers: numerous small, green, in dense spike at end of stem.

Leaves: compound, deeply lobed, toothed margins. Hairs in underside.
Stems/branches: long hollow, hairy with purple splotches.
