Baatan death march
Transfer of war prisoners from the imperial Japanese army, 75,000 American and Filipino prisoners of war were forced to walk 65 miles to baatan, many prisoners were beaten and killed along this route for not being able to keep up.
Operation overlord
On June 6th 1944 (D-day) allied forces landed troops on normandy beaches beginning the march to germany. Liberated the western part of europe that germany was already occupying.

Was vice president along side Franklin D Roosevelt, he strongly supported the new deal and lead the shift in agriculture policy in the US
EO 9066
Signed by FDR, led to 120,000 Japanese americans being incarcerated in “relocation centers” due to the fact FDR believed that they were a threat to national security after the pearl harbor attack.
The central intelligence agency
Founded in 1947 after tension in world war 2 was growing. The CIA is the nations first line of defense, they analyze foreign intelligence to protect the US from any threat.

Guerilla warfare
Independent forces used to throw off the opposing military using harassment and sabotage techniques. Guerilla warfare expanded in the cold war and aimed to weaken militaries.
Joseph R McCarthy
Senator from Wisconsin that claimed communist spies were in the federal government. He accused hundreds of workers in the federal government of being Communist with little to no proof in order to gain more attention for himself.
The double V
Stands for “Victory Abroad and victory at home”, aimed to stop Fascism overseas and racism in the US. Wanted to bring change for how discrimination was allowed and not punished
March on Washinton for jobs and freedom
On August 28th 1963 almost 250,000 people arrived to the march on Washinton for jobs and freedom. The purpose of the march was to advocate for civil rights of African american people and urge the Kennedy administration to pass a civil rights bill in congress. This was also where MLK gave his ‘I have a dream speech’.
Little Rock Central H.S
On the first day of school during desegregation the “little rock 9” were stopped from entering the school and even the Arkansas national guard was brought in to stop them. Until Eisenhower sent over federal troops to escort the little rock 9 into the building. The little rock 9 helped other African student gain access to segregated schools, they also helped to ensure desegregation was peaceful with the help of the government
Literacy Test
A test that assessed the persons ability to read and write. However was a very difficult test and most questions were worded in a confusing manner leaving the grader to manipulate the outcome of the test. These tests were designed to prevent and discourage black voters.
James Meredith
Civil rights activist who was the first black American to attend the university of Mississippi. During the desegregation James Meredith had US marshalls to protect him, however a riot breaks out and goes for many hours before the administration building is surrounded and JKF sends in the national guard to stop the riot.
