What is ICT?
Information & Communications Technology is the use of technology for the input, processing, storage and transfer of data and the output of information

Information is data that has been processed into something that is meaningful

Data represents raw facts and figures or sets of values

What is the first stage?
It is to analysis, design, implementation and programmers.

Processing transactions involving the sale of goods or services provided by the organisation

Processing transactions involving the sale of goods or services required by the organisation
What happens in the finance aspect of the business?
Managing the flow of money in and out of the organisation, planning investments and managing accounts.
What happens in the operations aspect of the business?
Carrying out the main business of the organisation

Information (with each other and external bodies; such as customers and suppliers).

Finance, payroll, budgeting/forecasting using spreadsheet or special-purpose software

Stock control using relational database management software

How can networks and intranets help workers?
To communicate and share data to produce an efficient organisation even if some of the workers are on the opposite side of the world.

All laws and legislation that have been introduced by the government

- The Freedom of Information Act
What must users ensure that they follow?
Security procedures such as user names and passwords and anti-virus software
What should anti-virus software be used for?
To check the removable media brought in from home to maintain the integrity of the ICT system.
How can these breaches of procedure for employees be dealt with?
Via the company’s ICT code of practice as they form an integral part of it.
