What is an incident action plan? (IAP)
Oral/written plan containing general objectives reflecting overall strategies for managing an incident.
What are the 4 elements of an IAP?

The span of control is;
The number of individuals or resources one supervisor can manage effectively during emergency response incidents.
Incident command post is
The location from which the incident commander oversees all incident operations.
Staging areas are
Temporary locations at an incident where personnel and equipment are kept while waiting for tactical assignments.
What is a Base?
location from which primary logistics and administrative functions are coordinated and administered. Base may be collocated with the Incident command post.
There is only one base per incident established and managed by the logistics section.
What is a camp?
Location where resources may be kept to support incident operations if a base is not accessible to all resources.
Camps are temporary locations within the general incident area, which are equipped and staffed to provide food, water, sleeping areas, and sanitary services.
Camps are designated by geographical location or number. Not all incidents will have camps.
What is a Helibase?
Location from which helicopter-centered air oeprations are conducted. Provide fueling and maintenance, and is designated by name of the incident.
What is a Helipsot?
Temporary locations where helicopters land and take off.

What is an available resource?
Assembled resources, have been issued their equipment, and are ready for immediate assignment.
Out of service resource?
Not ready for available or assigned status.
What are modes?
the “Hardware” systems that transfer information.
What is planning?
planning for use of all available communication resources.
What are networks?
Procedures and process for transferring information internally and externally.
What is a single command?
Incident commander will have complete responsibility for incident management.
Single command may be simple involving an incident commander and single resource.
What is a unified command?
Responding agencies and or/ jurisdictions with responsibility for the incident share management.
When woulda unified command be needed?
Incidents involving;
multiple jurisdictions
single jurisdictions w/ multiple agencies
multiple jurisdictions w/ multi-agency involvement.

What are the five major functions of ics?
Incident command Operations Planning Logistics Financial Administration
What is incident command responsible for?
Sets incident objectives, stratagies, priorities, and has overall responsibility at the incident.
Operations section is responsible for?
Tactical operations, carry out plan, develop tactical objectives and direct tactical resources.
Planning section is responsible for?
Prepares documents & iap to accomplish the objectives, collects and evaluates information, maintains, resource status, and maintains records.
Logistics section?
Provides support, resources, and all other services needed to meet the operational objective.
Finance section?
Monitors cost related to the incident. Provides accounting, procurement, time recording, cost analyses.
What is the role the public information officer?
Conduit for information to internal and external stakeholders, including media or organizations seeking information from the incident.
What is the role of a safety officer?
Monitors safety conditions, develop measures assuring safety.
Liason officer?
Primary contact for supporting agencies.
What is a division?
Used to divide an incident geographically.
What is groups?
Describe functional areas of operations.
What is branches?
Used when number of divisions or groups exceeds span of control and can be either geographical or functional.
What is a multidiscipline incident?
Has multiple disciplines involved (LE/FD/EMS/Hazar/ ect)
What is a multijurisdictional incident?
Organised incident around jurisdictional lines.
Very large incidents?
Organized by geographic or functional branches.
Resource unit?
Conducts all check ins and maintains status of incident resources.
Situation Unit?
Collects & analyzes information, prepares situation, develops maps and projections.
Documentation unit?
Duplication services, including IAP.
Demobilization unit?
Assists in ensuring resources. are released from incident in safe orderly and cost effective way.
