Q

clear ice

A

type of structural icing

  • MOST DANGEROUS
-heavy, hard & difficult to remove
  • forms when water drops freeze slowly as a smooth sheet of solid ice
  • usually 10°- 0°C by large supercooled drops of water

Q

rime ice

A

type of structural icing

  • opaque, white, rough
  • formed by small supercooled water drops freezing quickly
  • occurs at lower temperatures that clear

Q

carburetor ice

A
  • 5° - 20° c
  • high air velocity through the venturi that then absorbs the heat by vaporization of the fuel
  • indications: 1. drop in RPM then 2. engine roughness
