ICDAS Flashcards
First visual change in enamel seen only after prolonged air drying
1
Definite visual change in enamel
2
Localized enamel breakdown without clinical visual sign of dentin involvement
3
Underlying dark shadow from dentin
4
Definite cavity with visible dentin
5
Large distinct cavity with visible dent
6
Not sealed or restored
0
Sealant, partial
1
Sealant, full
2
Tooth colored restoration
3
Amalgam restoration
4
Stainless steel crown
5
Porcelain, gold, PFM crown
6
Lost or broken restoration
7
Temporary restoration
8
No evidence of caries or change in enamel translucency after drying
0
When seen wet, there is no evidence of change but after prolonged drying, a carious opacity (white or brown lesion) is visible
- Seen in buccal or lingual surface
1
Lesion may be seen directly when viewed from buccal or lingual
- When viewed from the occlusal, it may be seen as a shadow confined to the enamel, seen through the marginal ridge
2
Once dried, there is distinct loss of enamel when viewed buccally or lingually
3
Appears as a shadow of discolored dentin visible beneath an intact enamel - Seen when wet
- May appear grey, blue or brown
4
A cavitation seen with exposed dentin
- A probe can be used to determine the depth if it reaches the dentin
5
-Obvious loss of tooth structure
- Extensive cavity that is deep or wide and dentin is clearly visible on both walls and base
- At least half of the tooth is involved or possibly reaching the pulp
