The ICCPR is a multilateral (agreed upon) treaty (formally concluded and ratified agreement between states) which binds nations who ratify it acceded (agree) to it.

What’s the Aim of the ICCPR?
A
To **protect people from arbitrary use of power by a government ** and uphold the rule of the law. Also to protect an individual from an oppressive government.
