- Blood tests- anaemia, raised ESR
- Imaging- colonoscopy, ultrasound, spiral CT

A
- Pharmacological- corticosteroids, B!2 and folic acid
- Surgical- 80% will need it, ileostomy

A
- Wide variation
- Approx 12% are chronic

Ulcerative colitis
A
- Results in mucosal ulceration and dilation of lumen
- Inflammation confined to mostly mucosal layer
- Granulomas are rare
