What are the 3 steps of a I statement?
A
- state your feelings/emotions.
- share to the other party why you are experiencing these emotions/ feelings.
- Whats the consequence of these experiences/ feelings.

What is the difference between “You” and “I” statements?
A
“You” statements: create defensiveness by assessing blame it indicates an unwillingness to accept responsibility.
“I” statements: is descriptive and creates a supportive climate and demonstrates a willingness to accept responsibility.

Whats an example of you using an “I” statements?
A
“I get angry and embarrassed when you talk about my personal stuff to other family members. Im not comfortable telling you about my personal life now because you always tell other people.”
