What is this?

What is this?
The hero refuses his call to adventure usually from fear of change. He eventually goes, either from “encouragement” by a supernatural force or by and event that almost forces the hero to move beyond his home.

As the hero goes through his journey, he may encounter an old man, a god/goddess, or a messenger who gives the hero a a weapon or some magical powers

The threshold or obstacle the hero must cross separated the hero from his home or a new adventurous new world. Sometimes the threshold is guarded by a gate keeping whom the hero must defeat

What is this?
As the hero crosses the first threshold, he finds himself alone in the darkness of the new world. In the darkness he may find his purpose to go to his journey as a new person

In the new world, the hero must confront a series of challenges and test to help the character improve his character and skills to become more self-reliant

What is this?
During the hero’s road of trials, he may encounter a goddess that can be viewed as beautiful, motherly figure or as a queen. She can bring complete fullness to the hero’s character and help him realize he awards that await him after he finishes his quest

What is this?
A woman in the heroes journey can act as another step in the road of trials. The hero must overcome his selfish desires and return to the rightful path of his quest

What is this?
Eventually in his journey, the hero may encounter a fatherly figure with much authority. The fatherly figure can be portrayed a man who feels threatened by the hero or as a man who helps the hero on his journey

What is this?
At this point, the hero comes to realization with the purpose of life and himself. He usually becomes a selfless person who always cares for others before himself at this point

Apotheosis
What is this?
With the new knowledge the hero has gained from his apotheosis, he now wishes to share it with the rest of mankind. This knowledge is usually related to immortality, life, or death

The ultimate boon
What is this?
Once the hero finishes his quest, he may not wish to return home but rather stay in the new world. He may believe that old world won’t accept or understand what the hero has learned on his journey

Refusal of return
What is this?
The hero may wish to return home after finishing his quest. He may be accompanied by a protected who helped him overcome the obstacles that he faced throughout his quest. With the prize in hand, the hero may want to flee from those he angered on his journey

The magic flight
What is this?
While on the return from his journey, the hero may need to be rescued from a state or death or harm

Rescue from without
What is this?
As the hero travels home after his quest, he may encounter another threshold which separates his home from the new world. He may to defeat another game keeper

Crossing of the return threshold
What is this?
Once the hero overcomes the threshold, he realizes that there is nothing separating his home from the new world. He now understand the balance between the comfortable safety of his home and the new world. With this understanding, he also balances his character and mind

What is this?
Now with the journey complete, the hero has reached as understanding with himself and can live freely between his home and the new world. With his new found knowledge, he can be beneficial to the new world
