Data Protection Act (DPA)
A law designed to protect personal data stored on computers.
It controls how personal or customer information is used by organisation and government bodies; in order to protect how data about people can be used.
Computer Misuse Act (1990)
Anti-hacking law
Criminal offence for unauthorised access to computer material (with intent to commit a crime / intent to impair the operation of a computer [DDOS / malware] ).
The Copyright Designs and Patents Act (1988)
Designed to protect the creators of intellectual property stored on computers from having their work illegally used.
The Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act (2000)
Regulates the powers of public bodies to carry out surveillance and investigation, and intercept communications.
