Bombings -> Malala is scared because they get more constant and closer to her home. (mostly suicidal bombings)
What starts happening to schools?
Fazlullah started blowing up schools, usually during night time. He also started broadcasting that girls should stay at home and not go to school.
Where are the Taliban women trained? What is the name of their school? What happens to it?
They are trained at Jamia Hafsa. It had become a center to spread propaganda about bin laden.
What do the women in the Taliban do to promote Taliban values?
The woman in Taliban terrorize the streets of Islamabad.They raided houses and kidnapped women.They closes down DVD shops and began burning cds.
What freedoms are taken away from the people in Swat in this chapter?
Girls were not allowed to be seen outside. School trips were not allowed to happen. They had switched off the cable channels so no one was allowed to watch TV. They also banned board games.
Why do you think the Taliban views these places/objects as “haram”?
They viewed these objects as Haram because Pakistan enjoyed them.
What places/objects do the Taliban destroy?
The taliban took away their music, Buddhas and girls schools field trips. They also destroyed the Buddhist statues and stupas where children played.
Definition of Madrasa
A college for Islamic instruction. An Arabic word for College for Islamic Instructions. Some believe that that is where the Taliban get their education.

Out of the sight of men, at home (not at school or in public)
Definition of Mufti
An Islamic scholar and authority on Islamic law. Watched Malalas fathers school every day, especially the girls going in and out of it. He basically wanted Malala’s father to close down the school.
Definition of Sunnis
One who follows the tradition of the phoret. Malala and her family are Sunnis.
Definition of Shias
A smaller group of people who believe that the leadership should have stayed within the family prophet.
What is the role of women in Swat?
To stay home and cook for their husbands and men in their life.
