Q

Wall-thinning and dilatation

A
  • Adverse remodelling
  • Can result from concentric hypertrophy
  • May be direct, due to valve disease and volume overload etc.

Q

Concentric HT and dilatation both show

A
  • Myocyte enlargement
  • Reprogrammed gene expression

Q

Athletics and HT, difference with HF

A
  • Pressure loading (weight-lifter)
  • Volume loading (cyclist)
  • Hearts may look similar but function will be different
  • Adverse Ca handling (from reprogrammed gene expression) is unique to HF
