Drugs that block the convertion of T4 to T3:
A
- Propylthiouracil (PTU)
- propranolol(at least 160mg/day)
- Corticosteroids

When giving beta blockers in pt with thyroid strom:
A
- In normal pt, if tachycardia, compromise cardiac output, leading to APO, to give beta blocker is logical.
- However, for pt with cardiomyopathy, adrenergic drive is essential to keep thw heart going. Beta blocker will kill the pt. (To used the short T1/2 , short acting beta blockers)
