Ramipril
When might ACE inhibitors be used?
hypertension, heart failure, secondary prevention of ischaemic heart disease
What are the side effects of Ramipril
- COUGH
- angiodema
- hyperkalaemia
When is an ACE inhibitor not used
- Pregnancy and if breast feeding
- renal impairment
What is an example of Beta blocker?
- olol
- Atenolol
- Propanolol
When are beta blockers used
- Post MI
-Angina - heart failure
arrthymias - hypertension
What is the side effects of using atenolol
- Bronchospasm
- cold peripheries
- fatigue
- sleep disturbance
When would you avoid beta blockers?
- diabetics
- reduced hypoglycaemic awareness
Give an example of a calcium channel blocker
- verapamil
- diltazem
- nifedipine
- amlodipine
When might verapamil be given ?
- Angina
- hypertension
- arrthymias
When should Verapamil not be given
- not given with beta-blockers
- may cause heart block
When might you prescribe Nifedipine, amlodipine
- hypertension
- angina
- Raynaud’s

- calcium channel blocker
