Hypersensitivity Reactions Flashcards
What occurs in a T1 hypersensitivity reaction?
Degranulation of mast cells in response to allergen
Granules send compounds into tissues that increase vascular permeability
What is a t2 hypersensitivity reaction?
Antibody mediated hypersensitivity reaction
Antibody bind to antigen surface and induce cell destruction
What is a t3 hypersensitivity reaction?
Immune complexes of bonded antibody and antigens not Cleared by immune system
Leads to complement activation and leukocyte attraction and inflammatory response
What is a t4 hypersensitivity reaction?
T cells interact with foreign antigen and then bind to macrophage to activate macrophage
Activated macrophage phagocytose foreign pathogen, if this not possible macrophages bind together to form multinucleated giant cell
