Signs/Symptoms
A
- Dehydration
- Anorexia
- Weakness
- Confusion
- Drowsiness

Causes
A
- Fluid loss (diarrhoea, vomiting, burns)
- Iatrogenic (too much IV saline)
- Diabetes insipidus

Management
A
- Slow infusion of 5% dectrose or 0.9% sodium chloride
- Monitor electrolytes regularly
- Aim for a decrease of no more than 10mmol/l per 24 hours
