History for hyperlipidaemia
A
- Family Hx
- CVD risk - Hx, CDV, DM, HTN, Smoker, increased BMI, low SES
- Age diagnosed
- treatments used
- diet and exercise

Investigations
A
Bloods - to establish what lipids are raised (eg, hypertriglyceridaemia or hypercholerterolaemia)
- Creatinine Kinase - after starting statin
- LFTs - to look for FLD and for statin derrangement

Management:
A
Lifestyle - reduce BMI, reduce saturated fats, increase fruit and vegetables and increase exercise
Medications:
- Statins (40mg simvastatin) reduces cholesterol synthesis in the liver
- Fibrates (bezafibrate - useful in mixed hyperlipidaemia and hypertrigluceridemia) or cholerterol absoprtion inhibitors (eg. ezetimibe)
