When administering Hydrocortisone therapy what things should you watch out for
- correct route
- take same time every day
- when taking PO, take with food

Adverse Side effects with hydrocortisone therapy are ‘rare to none’ in some instances such as

- intranasal use

At High doses for prolonged periods of time
If prescribed Hydrocortisone and are taking it for more than 2 weeks you should
discontinue gradually
Because Hydrocortisone has mineral corticoids side effects it may bring onsets of
fluid retention
Caution should be advised when treating patients with hydrocortisone therapy that may present
Diabetes mellitus, osteoporosis, psychoses, liver disease, hypothyroidism
Long term usage of hydrocortisone therapy may bring onsets of what GI disorder
Peptic Ulcer
Hydrocortisone therapy may have cardiovascular side effects such as
HTN, Tachycardia
a patient on hydrocortisone therapy may experience CNS s/e’s such as
insomnia, anxiety, headache, vertigo, confusion, depression
