Hydrocarbon Flashcards
Hydrocarbons
A major of organic compound that is made up only carbon and hydrogen atoms.
Amphatic
do not contain benzene ring
Aromatic
it contain benzene ring
Isomers
Different compounds that have the same chemical formula
Structural Isomers
have the same chemical formula but different structure
Cycloalkanes
alkanes where carbon atoms are join together in rings
Alkanes
Organic compounds that consist entirely of single-bonded carbon and hydrogen atoms and lack any other functional groups
Cis Isomer
Two particular groups of atoms are on the same side of the double bond
Trans Isomer
The two groups of atoms are on the opposite side of the double bond
Bond Angle
the angle between two bond that shall a common atom and it measured in degree.
Bond Distance
distance between the bonded atoms
Molecular Geometry
it is a representation of the arrangement of atoms in a physical and chemical properties of a molecule.
VSEPR Model
It is a model used to predict 3-D molecular geometry based on the number of valence shell electron bond pairs among the atoms in a molecule or ion
Alkynes
this is our hydrocarbon that has carbon- carbon triple bond
Aromatic Hydrocarbons
These are compounds that usually contain benzene ring which is a ring of six carbon atoms
