Hydraulics Basic Systems Flashcards
- power source (creates hyd fluid flow)
- a method of transmitting the power (lines/pipes)
- a component to use the power (actuator/cylinder)
Hydraulic Systems Requirements
Type of hydraulic SYSTEM that there is continuous flow of fluid like hydro-electric power plant
Not practical for aircraft application
Open System
Type of hydraulic system that hydraulic fluid is enclosed within the system and moves through rigid lines & flexible hoses
Used for aircraft & fluid is re-circulated and reused
Closed System
- STORE hydraulic fluid
2. ALLOWS thermal expansion and contraction
2 primary functions of RESERVOIR
- valve that selects the direction of hydraulic fluid flow
- has 2 positions, directs fluid flow to actuator or directs fluid flow from actuator to the reservoir (return flow)
Selector valve
cylinder that ALLOWS 2-way hydraulic operation, pressure can move cylinder in both directions, UP OR DOWN
Double-Acting Cylinder
Selector Valve that SELECTS 2-way hydraulic path by alternating pressure & return paths), enabling cylinder to move 2 directions
4-port Selector Valve
It replaces the hand pump
EDP - Engine Driven Pump
Valve that OFF-LOADS/UNLOAD the pump pressure when system is not being used (nohydraulic demand) byrouting pump output flowback to reservoir (return flow)
Pump Control Valve
valve that REPLACES pump control valve and AUTOMATICALLY controls & amp; routes hydraulic fluid flow back to reservoir reducing pilot load and engine load to drive the EDP
Unloading Valve
Pump that Allows brake pressure to be built up before engine start can be used as back-up for EDP
Hand Pump
Primary fluid supply line EDP
fluid inlet is approx. ½ height of reservoir, this prevents the loss of all hydraulic fluid contents if leak develops at EDP
Stand-pipe
It keeps fluid system clean
return filter
relieve line pressure trapped in system by selector valves in closed (neutral) position. Fluid expands when heated!)
Thermal relieve Valve
for system monitoring system fluid pressure
