Hydraulic Consuctivity And Darcys Law Flashcards
Aquifer
An aquifer is an underground layer of water-bearing, permeable rock, rock fractures, or unconsolidated materials. Groundwater from aquifers can be extracted using a water well. Water from aquifers can be sustainably harvested through the use of qanats.
Hydraulic conductivity
The ease of movement of a fluid through a porous material.
Intrinsic permeability (K)
The rocks ability to to be porous
Unit - darcy
Transmissibity
Rate at which water of a a given dens and visc is transmitted through a unit width of aquifer or aquitard under a unit hydraulic gradient.
Aquitard
An aquifer is an underground layer of water-bearing, permeable rock, rock fractures, or unconsolidated materials (gravel, sand, or silt).
Darcys experiment
Flow rate double - head loss double
Darcys law
q=-iK
Low Reynolds number
High “ “
Laminar flow (following smooth paths in layers)
Turbulent flow
